This is a destination that is particularly popular on holidays and weekends, so if you are wanting to enjoy it at a more peaceful time then it is best to avoid the most popular visitor times. As well as lying on the beach, there is plenty else to do in the area. There are many tropical islands off the shore which can be explored by a short boat ride, and if you are interested in either diving or snorkelling, there are plenty of opportunities.

One of Myanmar‘s leading tourist attractions is Bago, which can be found about 50 miles away from Yangon. Here you will find many images of Buddha which are regarded as sacred and this makes it one of the holiest sites in the entire country. Often this is a location that is passed by too quickly as people rush to get to Mandalay but don’t do this, and spend a day exploring this fascinating site.

This area was initially created about 1500 years ago and it has played an important part of the history of Burma. Today there are very few of the original buildings remaining but you should definitely take enough time to explore the ones that do.

You will find a large number of pagodas here and one of these is the location of a golden shrine. This place is particularly holy because Buddhists believe this is where several hairs from Gautama Buddha are. There are also several attractions surrounding Bago which are also worth visiting including the Sittang River, which can be found in the East, and the Pegu Mountains off to the west.

Traveling by air is not the best idea all the time. Airline travels need lots of requirements and they only permit a certain number of dogs in the cargo. The spa town, which is closest to the capital Prague is the town of Podebrady, which is placed on Elbe and is just 50 km away from the capital. Most of the other spa towns are placed on the north western border of the country, but are also easy to reach, though may be they deserve more than a day visit to offer a great and relaxing experience. The town of Podebrady is surrounded by a natural park, three lakes, a lovely river and woods and is a great place for outdoor sports. The first curative spring of mineral water here was discovered in year 1905, in the Podebrady castle courtyard. The town is usually visited by people who want to cure illnesses of the circulatory system and the heart, as well as the blood vessels. Besides that, the town is home to many cultural and sports activities and is a great resort for relaxation and fun.

Without any doubt, the biggest and most famous of all spa resorts in the Czech Republic, is Karlovy Vary or also called Karlsbad. The town is famous for its beautiful nature and the hot mineral waters. Here the mineral water is curative for the digestion, the diseases of kidneys and gall-bladder, the intestines and the pancreatic gland. The water and the treatments are also good for the cholesterol level, the diabetes diseases and the excess weight.

The other spa town destination that deserves to be mentioned is Frantisek lazne, which is a great and very beautiful spa destination in the Czech Republic. The spa town is located in the western part of the country near the border with Germany. The place is known since the Medieval times, as it springs are rich in carbon dioxide and are curative on many diseases.

The last spa town to be featured here is Marianske Lazne, which is otherwise called Marienbad. The place is very relaxing and has a great musical fountain. The spa town is approximately 3 hours drive from Prague, so it is better to visit it for several days and not just as a one day trip. The resort is surrounded by green forests and features beautiful parks, many spa hotels and great restaurants.

The city of Budapest is a great place for dining out, wine tasting, going on concerts and nightclubbing. The city is especially beautiful during the Christmas season when all the streets and shop windows are decorated with festive lights and everything is so beautiful and magical. There is also a joyful Christmas Market, which is organized on Vorosmarty Square and is among the most popular Christmas fairs in this part of Europe. At the Budapest Christmas Market one can buy lovely gifts from the numerous wooden stalls, can enjoy some of the Hungarian pastries and get a hot cup of mulled wine. This however is not the only Christmas market in the town of Budapest, since there is also a market at the Liszt Ferenc Square that also has a great festive atmosphere.

Children will be really impressed by the Fairy Tale City of Christmas, which is organized in front of the Parliament Building. This is a great place for spending time with the family. Especially charming is the huge spruce tree, which is decorated with festive lighting and colorful toys, as well as the Santa Claus House and the Christmas train selling typical traditional Hungarian drinks and food. Another good option would be to go for ice skating on the City Park Lake, which happens to be one of the largest outdoor skating rinks in Europe and it is open until the end of February. As for the New Year’s Eve, there are plenty of celebrations going on in Budapest, with fireworks, etc.
